Solar Soars

July 16, 2024

Net generation for fuels from January to April shows that solar plays in a league of its own. According to EIA’s Electric Power Monthly report, solar power increased by 25% year-over-year. Natural gas saw an increase of nearly 6%, and that was the sun’s nearest rival.

Reuters reports that the price of solar panels have fallen by nearly 50% over the past year and will remain at current levels for up to two years. While Florida, California, and Texas are often mentioned as the states with the most grid scale solar capacity, the sun energy boom is also well-represented with Massachusetts, Minnesota, and North Carolina as lesser-known solar hotspots.
