MISO Limits Grid Connections
December 09, 2024
MISO, grid operator for 15 mid-continent states, filed a proposal with FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) for an interconnection queue cap, limiting how many new power projects can connect to the grid.
This limit would allow about 68 gigawatts (GW) of new power projects to connect across MISO's region.
Last year, MISO tried unsuccessfully to set a limit, but FERC rejected the queue cap. This time, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator removed provisions that allow certain projects to be exempt, increasing the likelihood that the proposal will be approved.
