ERCOT Peak Predictions

ERCOT reports it will have a reserve margin of 15.5% in the summer of 2021. This is up 12.5% from summer 2020 but lower than previous statements. ERCOT forecasts a new record peak of 77.244 MW, up 2,424 MW from the record of August 12, 2019. An ERCOT statement said that “new generation resources, including a significant amount of utility-scale solar, continue to be added to the ERCOT region at a rapid pace, resulting in higher planning reserve margins over the next several years.”
